Still A Chance For Constantine?

Leeds United have failed to pay their players for the month June, could it create a chance for the Alex to snatch Leon Constantine?

The Constantine link came to light this week after Dario revealed that Leon’s agent had contacted the club last week about the former Port Vale striker.

Although the club never went as far to discuss terms with Constantine, as he already has an offer from Leeds, Dario & Steve Holland are keeping tabs on the situation at Leeds to see if a opportunity arises.

Today it was revealed that Leeds have failed to pay their player’s wages for June, after most of their squad had already deferred their wages for May. Yet to get permission from the Football League to start the season, Leeds have a transfer embargo imposed on them, and although they’re allowed to sign enough players to keep their squad at 20 men, with no money to pay their wages it’s extremely unlikely they’ll be making any signings before the situation is sorted.

In the unlikely event of Leeds being denied entry into League One next season, or being unable to stick to their contract offer, it’s thought that Constantine would be keen on a move to Gresty Road.

Having scored 26 goals for our neighbours Port Vale last season, he could be [have been] the perfect replacement for Luke Varney.

However, for now we have to assume Leon Constantine will be a Leeds United player by August 11th – and continue our search for a striker elsewhere!

Slim to non-existent, but stranger things have happened. Still awaiting the FL decision and lack of wages – depends how long Constantine wishes carry on not earning. Could be a very drawn out affair. Interesting we haven’t offered him a deal though, just to try and tempt him (even if he has verbally agreed a Leeds deal).
