Stevenage Sign Will Appleyard

|

Stevenage have completed the signing of young goalkeeper Will Appleyard on a 1-year deal, the club announced yesterday afternoon and he will be joining their Under-23 development squad this season ahead of the new campaign.

Appleyard, 18, started his career at Crewe by signing a scholarship deal in 2016 but was not one of the 5 second-year scholars that signed professional deals in the summer.

He joins Ben Nugent, who signed last week, at the Lamex Stadium that have played for Crewe in the past.

What are Stevenage getting from Appleyard?

I have to be honest and say that I’ve only seen him play once or twice at most so I can’t give too much detail on his play. Having spoken to a few fans on Twitter in the past, they thought that he was a promising keeper so it was a surprise that he didn’t sign a pro deal earlier in the summer.
