Rochdale decisively beat Crewe Alexandra for the third time this season after a 4-0 victory at Spotland.

Ian Henderson and Joe Bunney both scored twice for the home side to leave their opponents currently four points clear of the drop-zone and still looking anxiously over their shoulders.

Midfielder Jamie Ness missed an early chance for the visitors when left with only on loan goalkeeper Jamie Jones to beat.

But Joe Rafferty was brought down by Brad Inman seven minutes from the break and Henderson converted from the spot.

Defender Jack O’Connell almost added another when Anthony Stewart cleared off the line before Bunney collected Henderson’s pass early in the second-half and drove past Paul Rachubka.

Bunney was then fouled by Jon Guthrie in the box and Henderson duly netted his second penalty of the evening.

Then after Nicky Ajose had been denied by O’Connell’s covering challenge, Jamie Allen offered the opportunity for Bunney to double his own personal tally with ten minutes remaining.
