Crewe Alexandra skipper Luke Murphy is still expected to complete a move away from Gresty Road.

New League One rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers remain current favourites to finally land the influential 23-year-old midfielder – while the Railwaymen continue to demand a £1.5m fee for his services.

It is understood that both clubs are nearing an agreement for Murphy, who scored nine goals in 48 appearances for the Alex last season and is out of contract next summer.

However, there are still a number of other interested parties waiting in the background, including Swansea City, Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers.
