Rodgers Rejects Swindon

Crewe striker Luke Rodgers has rejected a move to League Two outfit Swindon. Paul Sturrock’s men had a £30,000 bid accepted by Crewe for the transfer-listed striker, but Rodgers once again rejected a move as he is unwilling to drop down the footballing pyramid.

Mark Cartwright, Rodgers’ agent, said: ‘I don’t think anything is going to come of the Swindon interest. There are a couple of League One clubs who have shown an interest in Luke. This is all about playing football as far as Luke is concerned and he wants to stay at the highest standard he can.

Meanwhile, Rodgers hit a hat-trick for Crewe reserves’ against rivals Port Vale yesterday. Vale are one of the League One sides interested in Rodgers, and the speedy forward has been lined up as a replacement for the in-form Leon Constantine should he be sold.
