Rocastle On Radar

Vital Crewe believes that former Vale midfielder Craig Rocastle is on Gudjon Thordarson’s wish list.

The well travelled midfielder is currently contracted to Greek side Thrasyvoulos Filis after having a history of mutual terminations at previous clubs in England.

The 27 year old started his career playing mainly in the Chelsea reserves, moving out on loan to Barnsley, Lincoln and Hibernian to gain first team experience.

Rocastle then retuned to Chelsea where he failed to gain a first team spot. He moved on to play for Sheffield Wednesday, Oldham and then Port Vale spending time at other clubs on loan along the way.

The midfielder had his contract mutually terminated by the last three clubs he played for in English football, the last club being local rivals Port Vale back in April 2008. It`s certainly not the best track record to be looking at.

Rocastle made most first team appearances in his spell at Oldham making 35 appearances for the Latics and scoring 2 goals.

It has been reported in the press recently that the midfielder had returned to Hibernian for a trial in May, a club he played for on loan while contracted to Chelsea. So there may be possible competition there, although if the trial was successful you would imagine he would have been snapped up by now.

Vital Crewe will keep you updated.

I thought Gudjon was getting rid of players who think they are bigger than the club…

Rocky is useless, absolutely useless. One of the worst players I have seen at Vale Park.
