Gary Roberts this week became a permanent Yeovil Town player.

The short tempered midfielder joined Yeovil on a long term loan deal in August with a view of making the move permanent.

It brings an end to his time at the club after coming through the academy, making his debut as a 17 year old in the Championship. His spell was peppered with minor incidents which escalated when Steve Holland took over as first team manager.

Last season Roberts was disciplined twice by the club, once for failing to show up for training. In the summer he went AWOL as pre-season training got under way and later broke an agreement with Steve Holland on his return date.

It left Steve Holland at his wits end, and it soon became apparent that the once fans favourite wouldn’t play for the Alex again, with Holland saying:

“I’ve given him chance after chance, but that appears to have been a waste of time.’

Roberts joins Yeovil for an undisclosed fee and could soon be joined by former Alex striker Luke Rodgers, who saw his Port Vale contract cancelled this morning. Rodgers has also spent time on loan at The Glovers this season.
