Crewe forward Mark Rivers has failed to agree terms with League One outfit Blackpool over a potential free transfer. The ex-Norwich forward had been expected to join the Tangerines on a free transfer having been told by Crewe boss Dario Gradi that he was free to look for another club. Rivers is out-of-contract at the end of the season and there had also been reported interest from Tranmere Rovers.

Rivers has featured 296 times for Crewe and has made 36 league starts and scored 10 goals since rejoining from Norwich. Rivers has started Crewe’s last two games but is expected to be replaced by Steve Jones who will be partnered by Crewe new-boy Gareth Taylor for the visit of Plymouth.
