Crewe Alexandra are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by goalkeeper Dave Richards in the one nil victory over Stevenage at the weekend at Gresty Road was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Richards was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘A wretched run of five successive defeats came to an end for Crewe on Saturday, following an impressive 1-0 triumph over Stevenage. The Railwaymen were in fine form at the back, including Richards – whose first-half penalty save was the catalyst for victory.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Richards for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Dave Richards (Crewe Alexandra), Dan Potts (Luton Town), Dan Burn (Wigan Athletic), Richard Wood (Rotherham United), Pierce Sweeney (Exeter City), Ebere Eze (Wycombe Wanderers), Jake Reeves (Bradford City), Sean Murray (Colchester United), Ben Whiteman (Doncaster Rovers), James Henry (Oxford United), Ellis Harrison (Bristol Rovers).

Manager – Darrell Clarke (Bristol Rovers).
