Goals from O’Connor, Zola and Pope secured a strong Crewe Reserve team a 3 all draw away at Aston Villa Reserves this afternoon.

Midfielder O’Connor gave Crewe the lead with a free-kick before the reserves, watched by new boss Gudjon Thordarson, then fell 2-1 behind.

Fit again striker Calvin Zola then headed home an O’Connor free kick to make it two all. Villa then re-took the lead before Tom Pope executed a brilliant equaliser to claim a draw for the visiting reserve team.

New manager Thordarson, having seen nearly all his fit players perform competitively now, now has a lot to think about, especially with regards to his team selection for saturdays away trip to Southend and areas of the team he may wish to strengthen whilst the January transfer window is open.
