News from the Sunday papers is filtering and in the fashion more suitable for the Premiership there is talk that Steve Holland’s reign has finally come to an end.

There was talk from some fans that board meetings had taken place and that Holland’s job was under threat and it seems to be gathering pace.

News of the World (ok, not very reliable but stick with us) reports that Holland is set to be sacked.

The Sunday paper says that Crewe are ‘set to deliver their first sacking in over 25 years’ following yesterday’s defeat at home to Leyton Orient.

Taking Holland’s place? Well, there’s only one name – Dario Gradi. It would make sense for Dario to return to the managers position, whether he’d take it full time again is doubtful but until someone new comes in Dario is the best option.

The report concludes by saying that the board want to restructure the management but Holland wants to remain completely in charge. Hmm, that sounds familiar.Let’s stress: these are rumours. At this moment in time Steve Holland is still manager (well, first team coach) and until the club confirms otherwise we have to take all talk with a little pinch of salt… and hope.

I’ve missed that old face. Don’t want him back as manager though. Fresh start needed all round.

I agree, think it would be a step into the past – Some fans were calling for his head a few years back…

Right now I’d take Dario back to do whatever is needed to keep us in this league – he does have the Houdini touch. Now is not the time for a total change of direction, we’d certainly go down, just a steady hand to steer a survival path. Keep Steve at the club but in a coaching capacity – he’s a damned good coach but he’s no manager., then start looking for a new manager lkte season or in the summer.

Kind of agree truealex. Dario could come in and steady the ship whilst the right manager is sought.

If Holland goes this week I’d give Dario till the new year with a new manager in place for the January transfer window.

If we can get the right manager then change shouldn’t effect us in a negative way.

Let’s face it, any change is better than none at the moment. Holland isn’t going to get sacked because of the compensation issue and “it isn’t the Crewe way”. I think it would be a good short term solution.
