Reilly Treble Sees Under-23s Defeat Blades

Lewis Reilly bagged a hat-trick with Owen Dale adding the fourth for Alex Morris’ Under-23 team in their first action of 2019 against Sheffield United at Reaseheath this afternoon.

Manager Alex Morris would name Dave Richards in goal behind a back 4 of Luke Offord, Josh Lundstram, Billy Sass-Davies and Rio Adebisi. The four in midfield were Oliver FinneyTom Lowery, Joe Lynch and Dale with Reilly partnered by Malachi Linton up front.

The first goal came in the 5th minute with Reilly heading home from a left-wing cross from Lowery before Cheikh Ndiaye headed home an equaliser for the visitors from substitute Harry Boyes’ cross. Reilly would give the Alex the lead again with 10 minutes of the half to play with a tap-in after Jordan Amissah spilt a cross with him completing his hat-trick on 56 minutes with another tap-in. Simeon Oure would halve the deficit with 15 to play before Dale would get his goal scoring after Reilly had hit the post.

The next game for Morris’ men is against Nantwich Town on Wednesday in the Cheshire Senior Cup before a trip to Leeds United in the Professional Development League at their Thorp Arch training ground next Monday with a 1 pm kick-off.
