First-team coach James Collins described a second successive victory for Crewe Alexandra as a “real boost”.

‘The past week has been a real boost to everyone’ – James Collins

On loan midfielder Adam King scored the only goal of the contest to account for fellow strugglers Oldham Athletic and move the Railwaymen off the bottom of the table.

“The past week has been a real boost to everyone after coming off a heavy defeat last Saturday,” Collins told Crewe’s
official website. “It was our first big defeat of the season but the players have responded brilliantly.

“They were 2-0 down on Tuesday and fought back to win the game at Colchester and then they had to dig in at times today to follow up what they did on Tuesday with another win here today,” he added. “I thought they did really well.”
