Tabloid reports suggest that Derby County are set to make a renewed bid to sign Alex right back John Brayford.

The Mirror claim that Derby boss Nigel Clough is lining up a £400,000 bid for Brayford, who has previously played under Clough during their time at Burton Albion.

Brayford, who signed for Crewe in September 2008, was a target for County last summer as Nigel Clough and then Alex manager Gudjon Thordarson confirmed that there had been talks between the two parties.

The 22 year old’s future is now up in the air as he enters the final six months of his contract at Gresty Road. It’s likely that the club will now enter contract negotiations with Brayford with a sale likely if Brayford rejects the chance to extend his stay.
