Crewe Alexandra defender Kelvin Mellor has been offered a three-year contract by Championship Derby County, according to reports.

The 21-year-old is yet to sign the deal originally set before him by Alex in June. The League One newcomers are now expected to come back in with an improved offer.

Meanwhile, Crewe are still waiting on both winger Byron Moore and reserve goalkeeper Alan Martin, with manager Steve Davis describing the deal put before Moore as the best at the club.

All three players still reported back for pre-season training on Thursday.
