Manager Steve Davis was understandably delighted that the transfer deadline passed without any major departures from Crewe Alexandra.

“I was able to watch deadline day and see the ridiculous things going on” – Steve Davis

Youngster Paris Bateman was allowed to join neighbours Nantwich Town on a month’s loan, but significantly there was no movement regarding skipper Luke Murphy and another of the club’s brightest talents, Max Clayton.

Meanwhile, Premiership prospects Brad Inman and Chuks Aneke have both signed on at Gresty Road until the end of the season.

“I was pleased that the deadline passed without major incident for us,” Davis admitted to Crewe’s official website. “The crucial thing from our perspective was not to lose anyone.

“We managed to do that and that is pleasing,” he added. “I was able to watch deadline day and see the ridiculous things going on there. In the final hour it is madness and I’m just glad we weren’t involved in that really.”
