Q&A With Our New Editor

Having taken over the site on Wednesday as editor and not knowing how do introduce myself, I asked on social media for questions to answer so you know a little more about me.

Why do you support the Alex?
I support the club because my dad took both me and my brother to our first games in the early Championship days.

How old are you?
I’m 28.

When was your first game
As mentioned in the first question, my first game was a 2-1 win at home to Bradford in August 1998 where former assistant manager James Collins scored his only senior goal for the club.

How many games have you been to?
Including youth team and reserve team games, between 450 and 500 games.

Have you been to an away ground? If so, which is your favourite?
Again including youth team games, I have been to 13 of the 92 current Premier League and Football League grounds as well as Macclesfield Town’s Moss Rose and both versions of Wembley. Ignoring Wembley as it was a neutral ground, my favourite would have to be either Goodison Park or Elland Road as they are grounds that have character about them and not one of the new idenikit grounds that all look the same apart from the colour of the seats.

Which ground would you most like to attend in the future?
Newcastle’s St. James Park. Newcastle are one of only 7 of the 92 that I haven’t seen at all (Newport are one of those that I can cross off next week) and having stayed in the city for a weekend whilst playing a poker tournament near the ground, the passion that the fans had on non-match days should be nothing compared to what it would be like in the stadium itself, even if we are sitting in the gods in the away end.

Why have you taken the role of editor on here?
Having gained experience blogging on football in general over the past few years including writing match reports on games i’ve been to over the last couple of months, i’ll be using my experience and love of the club to improve myself as a writer covering our club.

What’s next for the site?
Having been on the site for a couple of days now, i’ve noticed that there are some sections of the site that need updating which can be done over time.

As far as the front page is concerned, i’ll be looking to attend as many of the Under-23 games at Reaseheath that I can (I already attend those games at the ground) and cover those and the Under-18 games on here, even if it’s in round-up form on a Monday evening or Tuesday afternoon.

As far as the forum is concerned, currently there is one but it’s not used at all. It’s something that I would like to change but that might be something that we’ll sort out during the off-season.

Thank you for the questions.
