Crewe Alexandra are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Chris Porter in the five one victory over Chesterfield at the weekend at Gresty Road was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Porter was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Crewe Alexandra were another team to hit five at the weekend, with Porter finding the net twice in the 5-1 demolition of Chesterfield. Pouncing on a loose ball to open the scoring, he coolly slotted home a second after the break, played a part in the fourth, and was only denied a treble by the offside flag.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Porter for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Sam Johnstone (Aston Villa), Daniel Jones (Notts County), Krystian Pearce (Mansfield Town), Tony McMahon (Bradford City), Sean McConville (Accrington Stanley), Bradley Johnson (Derby County), Kieran Lee (Sheffield Wednesday), Adama Traore (Middlesbrough), Pierre-Michel Lasogga (Leeds United), Chris Porter (Crewe Alexandra), Kieffer Moore (Rotherham United).

Manager – Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (Northampton Town).
