Crewe leading scorer Tom Pope has agreed terms on a new 2 year deal.

Pope had been stalling on the new contract extension which keeps him at Gresty Road until the summer of 2011 due to it not matching his requirements over length and salary.

The former Biddulph Vics striker has become a fans favourite over the past two seasons, showing real commitment, enthusiasm and passion for the Alex. Something which the fans, myself included really enjoy.

However, recently Pope has been left out of the starting eleven, even as the leading scorer in a team struggling for goals. Something that most fans have been unable to understand.

Pope spoke to the official site after signing on the dotted line ‘I want to stay here because Crewe is a great club and I’m learning something every day and I feel I’m improving all the time.’

‘Crewe have brought me this far and I see no reason why I can’t go further with them.’
