Portsmouth have been refused permission to postpone their home meeting with Crewe Alexandra on Saturday week.

“We have a possible scenario where we lose Lubo and Muzzy for the Crewe game” – Michael Appleton

Pompey could be without the services of Lubomir Michalik and Mustapha Dumbuya for the game because of international duty while Josh Thompson (ankle) and Darel Russell (hamstring) are still on their injured list.

Michalik is currently on standby with Slovakia while Dumbuya has already been included in Sierra Leone’s squad.

The rule is that clubs are permitted to request a cancellation if they have three players away representing their country.

But Portsmouth’s argument is that current restrictions imposed upon them only allow a twenty-man squad at their disposal and that should be taken into full account.

“We have a possible scenario where we lose Lubo and Muzzy for the Crewe game through internationals,” manager Michael Appleton told
The Portsmouth News. “But the Football League are not prepared to do anything. Lubo, at the minute, is on standby. The problem is you are in no-man’s land. We might not find out until Thursday.”
