Poll: Should Moore Play?

Byron Moore looks set to snub the club’s offer of a new contract and leave following the expiration of his current deal this summer, with murmurs of a move to League One being in the pipe line. So, should he still be getting in the side ahead of others?

A new site poll is online and you can vote now.

The majority of fans, and by that I mean football fans in general, will always have reservations over a player who won’t commit to their club being in the side.

Moore’s refusal though not only flags up lack of commitment to the club but, with the way he’s been brought all the way through the academy, he’s thrown the years of coaching and faith in him back in the club’s face. Like Billy Jones five years ago, he’s made it hard for us to recoup a fair fee and when the club relies on the fees for its young talent to survive, there is a deeper issue for fans than when the ‘average player’ refuses to remain at the club.

However, there is not much choice down the right wing if Moore was to left out in the cold. Do we play Joel Grant, who has not impressed this season and is also likely to depart this summer? Or Danny Shelley, who is still struggling to make an impact at first team level? Move one of Miller or Donaldson onto the wing and sacrifice goals?

You also have to consider that if Moore’s mind is made up then the more he plays, the better our case may look should a tribunal be needed to set a compensation fee.

In short, we could be cutting our nose of to spite our face if we were to drop Byron.

But what do you think? Vote now and have your say on the Vital Crewe Message Board

Meanwhile, Adam Dugdale took Man of the Match for Macclesfield in our last poll with a impressive 57% of the vote. It was a tough call with no player really shining and with Taylor receiving 31%, it says a lot that they were possibly two of our quieter players on the night.

Bell, Miller and substitue Leitch-Smith were the only other players to receive a vote.
