Having missed out on former Swindon Town left-back Callum Kennedy, Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis is currently turning his attention towards alternatives for the role.

The 23-year-old completed a move to League One rivals Scunthorpe United last week following earlier talks with Alex. Now Davis is contemplating options from elsewhere as he continues to attempt to strengthen his squad.

“We have others to go for,” Davis told Alex’s official website. “We spoke to one with potential and there are others in our list with more experience than him, so we just move on.

“There are plenty of left-backs around but it is about getting the right one in,” he added. “We want that quality one in that will give us that balance on the left.”
