Crewe have offered goalkeeper Steve Phillips a permanent contract with the club after a impressive loan spell.

Phillips has been on loan at the club from Bristol Rovers for the past couple of months and despite a shaky start to his Crewe career he’s put in some solid performances.

With Bristol Rovers now looking to offload Phillips on a free Dario is hoping the Somerset-born keeper will continue his time at Crewe with what Dario is calling a ‘generous offer’.

Phillips has recently been linked with various clubs, including teams from the SPL, whilst Phillips himself has said that he will not be extending his loan spell, which expires in January, and the only way he’ll stay at Gresty Road is if the club offer him permanent terms.

Dario says that whilst our offer is less than his current contract at Bristol Rovers he believes talks with Phillips were positve and hopes he’ll agree to the move sooner rather than later. Speaking to CreweAlex.net, Dario said:

‘We would like to keep him with us and I have made him an offer which I think he finds accepted for this division. We had positive talks and hopefully, if he can sort out one or two things with Bristol Rovers then he will be pleased to sign with us.

‘I think it is good that an experienced player wants to come here. It is good for the younger lads to know that this is a decent club because they are non-the-wiser.’

This will be the test of his faith and loyalty to the Alex. If he’s more bothered about playing games then the money, then he should sign with no problems. If he waits around for a better offer from another club then I for one will be very dissapointed. Great keeper, and good on DG for offering him the contract ASAP.
