Following a more regular midfield appearance in his only other league start against Yeovil Town back in October, Turton willingly switched to full-back as the visitors eventually ran out 3-1 winners with a revised formation at Deepdale.
However, with Matt Tootle returning from suspension this weekend, the 20-year-old appreciates he faces a real challenge to keep his place against Bury on Saturday.
“It was my birthday on the Thursday and then to be told I was starting at Preston was just the perfect week for me,” Turton told Crewe’s official website. “To come away with the three points as well and to be a part of the first-team was really good.
“I just have to keep working hard and show what I can do because the competition for places is very intense,” he added. “I don’t really mind where I play. I would play wherever the manager wants me to.”
