Abdul Osman says his Crewe Alexandra side will be looking to make amends to supporters in their Capital One Cup second round tie at Premier League West Ham United this evening.

The Alex return to the capital just three days since their 5-1 defeat at Brentford, which was a performance described by manager Steve Davis as an “embarrassment” and the worst under his charge.

“We have to learn from what happened on Saturday. We know we are a good side who can beat most teams in our division, but we just didn’t get started,” Osman told This is Staffordshire. “We need to look at ourselves and at what went wrong and make sure we get the basics right.

“It was a bad showing and it was very disappointing. Our supporters came a long way and we let them down. We need to give them something to shout about,” he added. “We’ve got to look at what happened at Brentford and make sure we come back stronger.”
