Recent signing Abdul Osman is ready for the challenge of proving himself worthy of a regular start at Crewe Alexandra.

The 25-year-old midfielder clearly recognises the stiff competition from such as Ashley Westwood and Luke Murphy and knows he faces a serious battle for his place, despite more than a hundred appearances at former club Northampton Town.

“That’s how it is and that’s how it should be,” he told the Crewe Chronicle. “When you are in a team it is not about being the only one playing every week. There should be competition so you can strive to get better and push each other.

“Everyone has to earn their place in the team and I have to show the manager I am ready to play.”

Osman impressed during a recent trial period sufficiently to earn himself a two-year deal at Gresty Road following an earlier spell in Greece.
