Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis believes winger Byron Moore can realise his ambition of Championship football at Gresty Road.

The 23-year-old finally agreed a new two-year deal and marked it with a goal in the opening pre-season friendly victory at Congleton Town at the weekend.

That followed ten goals last season for Alex on their way to promotion, including in the play-off final victory against Cheltenham Town at Wembley in May.

“He’s pledged his future for the next two years,” Davis told This is Staffordshire. “There’s a little clause in that in the second year if the right offer comes along we will allow him to go. I think that’s fair for us and for him. We have met him somewhere in the middle.

“I thought he had a great season last season when he scored 10 goals,” he added. “If he can continue with that sort of form, and the goalscoring, then he will do a fantastic job for Crewe and will move onwards.”
