One point is all we need

After a spirited 1-1 draw with Torquay the Railwaymen now only need one point to secure the final play-off place.

After falling behind from a Steven`s goal for Torquay and Harry Davis missing a penalty, it was the 18-year-old talent Nick Powell who nicked the headlines again.

Powell scored a shot from just within the penalty area to give the Alex a point to the delight of the Alex faithful, and notably Neil Baker and club skipper Dave Artell.

It was all the Alex deserved and now means a draw will secure seventh place in League Two. The Alex can still make seventh place with a loss, only if eighth place Oxford fail to beat local rivals Port Vale.

It is expected that Steve Davis will have his players on high alert for Saturdays games, despite Aldershot only having pride to play for. Whatever happens though, nobody would imagine the Alex would have been in this at the end of 2011.

Well done to all who travelled yesterday and created a fantastic atmosphere. Up the Alex.
