Midfielder Michael O’Connor remains firmly in the senior Northern Ireland squad, receiving his third call up.

The 20 year old, who has become an established part of the first 11 at Gresty Road this year, has previously played in both Northern Ireland and Rep. Of Ireland youth set ups prior to his senior call up to the N.Ireland squad earlier this year.

Last week he played over 30 minutes for Nigel Worthington’s men as they played their final World Cup Qualifiers warm up game against Scotland, which ended 0-0.

Today Worthington kept faith in Occy as he named his squad for the World Cup qualifiers in September. With Ireland facing Slovakia on September 6th and Czech Republic on September 10th, it means O’Connor will miss the September 6th trip to Leeds United – should the game go ahead.

Full squad: Taylor (Birmingham), Mannus (Linfield), Tuffey (Partick), Baird (Fulham), Craigan (Motherwell), McAuley (Ipswich), Evans (Man Utd), Duff (Burnley), McGivern (Man City), McCartney (West Ham), Hughes (Fulham), Davis (Rangers), O’Connor (Crewe), Clingan (Norwich), Brunt (West Brom), Shiels (Hibernian), Gillespie (Sheff Utd), Healy (Sunderland), Feeney (Cardiff), Paterson (Burnley), Lafferty (Rangers), Thompson (Stockport).
