Notts Win Rodgers Appeal

Luke Rodgers has had his red card rescinded by the FA after an appeal from Notts County.

Sent off for violent conduct there seemed little room for complaint as he walked with Westwood at the end of Saturday’s match. However, Steve Cotterill got a bee in his bonnet and successfully appealed the decision today.

The FA confirmed that the red card had been withdrawn and Rodgers was free to play for Notts County in their game at Bradford tonight.

‘The Commission upheld a claim from Notts County striker Luke Rodgers who was sent off for violent conduct in County`s match against Crewe on 20 March. As a result, Rodgers` three match suspension has been withdrawn.’

Today Dario confirmed that he had chosen not to appeal the sending off of Ashley Westwood. Dario added on CreweAlex.net that he had long lost faith in the appeal system and has learnt to just get on with it:

‘We didn’t consider appealing because I have not got a lot of faith in the system. The last time someone was sent off for me, Carl aside, was Gary Roberts and it was such a cast-iron decision to overturn it that when it wasn’t, we thought there isn’t much point.’

And I think today has proven why Dario has no faith in the system. Absolutely shocking decision to let Rodgers off.
