Manager Steve Davis was again left reflecting on defensive mistakes as Rochdale emerged with a 5-2 victory at Gresty Road.

“It was really poor defending again, that’s nine in three now” – Steve Davis

New striker Marcus Haber scored twice on his full debut for the Railwaymen, but there was little consolation as the visitors enjoyed themselves at the other end – particularly Matt Done, who helped
himself to a hat-trick.

“It was really poor defending again, that’s nine in three now,” Davis admitted to Crewe’s official website. “We couldn’t cope with the quickness of their two up there. Our two centre-halves didn’t cope at all and our full-backs found it difficult.

“It may sound stupid but I actually think going forward we were really good,” he continued. “We scored two, we could’ve scored more – their keeper pulled off two great saves. In a forward sense we were decent. But at the other end it all went wrong.”
