Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he won’t be making any rushed moves into the loan market.

“We’re talking to clubs, managers and agents but I won’t rush it” – Steve Davis

Davis has already indicated a desire to increase his attacking options, with Doncaster Rovers striker Billy Paynter one of the names under consideration.

But it appears unlikely that the Alex squad will be added to ahead of this weekend’s capital trip to Brentford.

“We haven’t got a lot of money and we have to be careful,” Davis told the Crewe Chronicle. “The players we have got have had plenty of time and haven’t come up with the goals. I still feel we have to do something.

“We’re talking to clubs, managers and agents but I won’t rush it,” he added. “With Paynter, we are not sure about his fitness yet but there are others we are thinking about too.”
