No Enquiries For Woodards

After his failure to sign a new contract, defender Danny Woodards was last week placed on the transfer list along with fellow rebel Gary Roberts.

Technical Director Dario Gradi explained the situation to crewealex.net: ‘When a player informs us that he doesn’t want to extend his contract then we have to do what is in the best interest of the Football Club.’

Gradi added: ‘A club like Crewe cannot afford to take a player like Danny Woodards from non-league, play him in our first team and improve him just for him to walk away for nothing.’

As of yet Gradi admitted there has been no contact over Woodards though: ‘If we can we will get some money for him because we invested time and money on him – but I have not had one enquiry for him as yet.’

Midfielder Gary Roberts who was placed on the transfer list at the same time as Woodards has been strongly linked with a move to North-West neighbours Blackpool.

Blackpool manager Simon Grayson has just returned from holiday and is believed to be keen to open talks with Crewe and Roberts about a potential move for him to Bloomfield Road.
