Defender Gregor Robertson is hoping for a better pre-season after recently joining Crewe Alexandra on a free transfer from Chesterfield.

The 28-year-old left-back has missed the last two season warm-ups due to injury and was simply happy to be involved for Alex as they returned to training on Thursday.

“I’ve been unfortunate with injuries over the last couple of years and missed the last two pre-seasons,” he explained to This is Staffordshire. “It meant I was still playing catch-up with fitness when I came back into the team half-way through the season.

“So I’m looking forward to getting a full pre-season under my belt and getting up to my peak.” the Scot added. “First of all I want to get a place in the first team and then play as many games as possible to help the team do well in League One.”
