Luke Murphy says it will be good to meet up with former team-mate Clayton Donaldson when Crewe Alexandra visit Brentford this weekend.

“He was a great lad as well so it will be good to catch up” – Luke Murphy

The contest marks the first time the pacy 28-year-old ex-Hibernian striker has come up against his former colleagues since leaving them for Brentford at the start of last season.

“Clayts was a great player and scored 30 goals in his final season with us,” Murphy told Crewe’s official website. “He did carry us in a few games when he was here and always gave 100%. He was a great lad as well so it will be good to catch up.”

Bradford-born Donaldson was named as player of the year at Crewe in his third and final season after finishing the campaign as the leading goalscorer in League Two.
