Much beyond our strongest XI?

This summer has seen a whole host of changes, from the management team to the playing personnel. The season is just around the corner, should we be happy with the squad? Wait and see? Or be worried?

On the face of it our strongest side has great potential and if fit should be challenging for a position in the top six of League One but if you take one or two out you start to see the bare bones, for example Byron Moore started at Forest Green and is the 5th choice striker.

Make no doubts about it, the likes of Miller, Farquharson and Moore all have potential but out of the three I would say, only Miller is anywhere near ready for League football.

Miller will be a star, and this could be his season. His form at the end of last season was impressive and he has carried that in to pre-season. Is the answer M&M? Maynard and Miller.

Both have played together at youth level and can both take a goal, lack of height maybe a concern but as a target man has yet to be found I feel that this is our best option up front at the present time.

With a small squad in operation this season we need to minimise the threat of injuries and have a squad with plenty of depth to cover niggling injuries and tiredness over the course of the season.

We need another striker (target man) and defender (full back) to complement our existing squad. I have been impressed with Ryan Lynch and would like to see him offered a contract, if we could add Lee Barnard of Spurs on Loan I would be delighted with the summer acquisitions and be confident of being promotion candidates.
