Former Alex defender Darren Moss has questioned some of Dario’s coaching methods. The right back now plays at Shrewsbury Town, the club Crewe paid £170k to for him after leaving on a free in the summer.

Until now Moss hadn’t spoken of his two years with the club, but told the Shrewsbury Town official website that he has mixed feelings over Dario Gradi’s coaching.

Moss said: ‘Obviously playing in the championship was a great experience and I felt I held my own that season. Last season was a bit of a disappointment though as I was in and out of the team and playing at left-back. I did learn a lot from Dario and some of his methods were very good, though if I am being honest some weren’t so good.’

However, Moss clearly has respect for Dario, having personally witnessed him working 24/7 for the club.

Moss added: ‘He’s been there so long and he goes from the Under 10s through to the first team. That’s his life and that’s why he’s had so much success. He’s well known for getting young players and brining them through, and he must have made millions in transfer deals. That’s why he’s such a special manager as he gets the best out of the youth players and they go on to do better things.’
