Darren Moss is to undergo surgery on his ‘football hernia’ and is expected to be out for upto a month. Moss has found it difficult to break into the side in recent months, but an injury to Julien Baudet against Carlisle allowed him the opportunity to stake his claim for a regular place. Despite failing to deal with a cross in the build up to Carlisle’s opener, Moss recovered to have a good game and was likely to feature more regularly following injuries to Billy Jones, Michael O’Connor, Lee Bell and a niggling problem for David Vaughan.

However, unless a change in system is forthcoming, Moss’ absence means that David Vaughan is likely to have to continue at left wing-back for the Blackpool game, though Billy Jones should be fit in time for the visit of Manchester United. Cavell Coo and Chris Flynn would be next in line for the left back slot.
