Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis remains pleased with the progress of his side despite the disappointment of a first loss in six games against MK Dons at the weekend.

“We are in a decent position and have had a solid start without being spectacular” – Steve Davis

An early strike from the hosts eventually proved crucial as their visitors wasted chances of their own before eventually falling to a narrow single-goal defeat.

But Davis was still feeling upbeat about the situation overall ahead of a couple of very winnable home games this week.

“I’m pleased with the players’ attitude, effort and determination,” he told Crewe’s official website. “We just need that killer instinct and once we get that right we’ll climb the league, we are in a decent position and have had a solid start without being spectacular but there is more to come from these players. They will improve.”
