Crewe Alexandra hope to complete their second signing of the summer towards the middle of next week.

The Alex are currently trying to recruit a midfielder and winger after recently missing out on Hereford United’s Sam Clucas and Danny Hylton of Aldershot Town.

So far only striker Vadaine Oliver has arrived from Conference side Lincoln City since the end of last season.

Manager Steve Davis is currently away on holiday but his assistant Neil Baker believes that situation could change after the weekend.

“We are looking for a midfielder and a winger,” he told This is Staffordshire. “We have one or two things on the go, but don’t expect anything to happen until the middle of next week.”
