Robbins Signs First Professional Deal

|

Crewe Alexandra have announced that Joe Robbins has signed his first professional deal. He has signed an initial 12-month deal, which I assume has the option of a second-year that the club can extend automatically.

Robbins, 18, captained Lee Bell’s Under-18 side during last season during the FA Youth Cup campaign and has made appearances for Alex Morris’ Under-23 side. He becomes the third (and final) player to have signed his first professional deal following Tyreece Onyeka and Nathan Woodthorpe signing their deals earlier in the week.

What type of player is Robbins?

Joe is a player who I’ve not seen a lot of so far in his career but he’s a central midfielder who plays as a deep-lying playmaker and also took set-pieces for the U18s but has also played as an attacking midfielder off the frontman, both in a 4-4-1-1 as well as a 4-4-2 wide diamond. Whilst I don’t think he’ll make an appearance next season for our first team, I think that a target would be a regular in the U23s and potentially getting a loan move to a local Northern Premier League side late in the season (assuming their season runs as normal).
