Ryan Wintle Signs 12-Month Extension

|

Crewe Alexandra have announced that midfielder Ryan Wintle has signed a 12-month extension with the club which sees him contracted to the club until the summer of 2021.

Wintle, 22, signed for the club as a scholar following a spell in Alsager Town’s first team, the Alex paying a small fee for him in January 2015, with him making his first team debut near the end of that year. He’s made almost 100 appearances for the Alex since his debut, scoring 5 times in the process.

What does Wintle’s extension mean for the future?

I’m delighted that he’s signed an extension as he’s the only natural holding midfielder that we have within the first team squad (Josh Lundstram and Luke Offord are the closest to doing a similar job but haven’t been involved in the first team picture yet on the pitch at least) rather than someone like Paul Green who is more of a box-to-box player who can fill in as the holding midfielder.
