Crewe Alexandra have a serious doubt over Australian schemer Brad Inman for their weekend game with Portsmouth at Gresty Road.

The on loan Newcastle United midfielder suffered a blow to the ankle during the latest defeat at Hartlepool United and the immediate hope is for severe bruising rather than ligament trouble. He already appears set to miss out on facing bottom club Pompey on Saturday.

Manager Steve Davis could make changes anyway following the inept midweek display, with the likes of Matt Tootle, Harry Davis and Mathias Pogba pressing for returns.

His only other confirmed absentee is young defender Jon Guthrie, who was expected to be out for at least a fortnight with a groin injury
