Midfielder Luke Murphy is on his way back from injury and could feature in the latest friendly at Tamworth this weekend.

The 22-year-old has been recovering from a knee problem and only managed a single pre-season appearance at Congleton so far.

But he is keen to rediscover his own match sharpness and press for inclusion for the start of the new campaign.

Alex only have games remaining against Tamworth and Barnsley next week before their Capital One Cup opener against Hartlepool United in just over a week’s time.

Manager Steve Davis was expected to rest some of his more senior players in favour of a few youngsters this weekend, so the likes of Andy White and Ollie Turton should also be involved.
