Harper Joins On Loan From Ipswich

|

Crewe Alexandra have confirmed the signing of midfielder Rekeem Harper on loan for the rest of the season from Ipswich Town, becoming the fifth transfer of the window following the arrivals of Bassala Sambou, Tariq Uwakwe, Ryan Alebiosu and Dan Agyei.

Harper, 21, started his career with West Bromwich Albion, spending time on loan at Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City before joining Ipswich last summer for an undisclosed fee (believed to be in the region of £500,000).

He has also represented England at Under-17 and Under-19 levels.

What will this signing mean going forward?

A big signing for the Alex if we are looking to get out of trouble (especially when you consider that clubs like Liverpool and Spurs were looking at signing him in the past).

As far as him playing for the Alex for the rest of the season, he’s spent the majority of his career to date in the Championship before this season (even making 3 appearances in the Premier League for WBA) and will most likely play as a defensive midfield option alongside Tom Lowery behind the more advanced midfielder in our 3-man midfield.
