Maynard Bid Accepted

&linktitleSky Sports report that Crewe Alexandra have accepted a bid from a unnamed Champioship club for Nicky Maynard today.

A fee of over £2million is said to have been accepted this afternoon, the club remains unnamed whilst Bristol City and Ipswich Town are both thought to have had bids rebuffed in recent weeks.

It seems unlikely that Maynard will turn down the chance of Championship football after months of speculation surrounding his future. Having scored 15 goals last season, despite nearly five months out injured, the likes of Hull, Stoke and Middlesbrough have all taken interest in the 21 year old.

Should the transfer go through it’ll free up funds for Steve Holland to strengthen his side further, with the defence and midfield being the pressing concerns.
