Tomorrow sees the first home league game of the year as Newport County arrive at the Alexandra Stadium.

Looking at the visitors, so far this season they have 10 victories, 6 draws and 9 losses in the league as they sit in 13th place in the league. In the league, they have beaten us, Notts County, Grimsby Town, Port Vale, Oldham Athletic, Tranmere Rovers, Cambridge United, Stevenage, Colchester United and Northampton Town, they have drawn with Exeter City, Macclesfield Town, Forest Green Rovers, Bury, Morecambe and Crawley Town while they have lost against Mansfield Town, Yeovil Town, Crawley, Carlisle United, Cheltenham Town, Swindon Town, Lincoln City, Forest Green and Stevenage.

In cup competitions, they have been drawn against Middlesbrough in the 4th Round of the FA Cup after they have knocked out Met Police, Wrexham after a replay and Leicester City last weekend. They were knocked out in the EFL Cup in the second round by Oxford United after they beat Cambridge and they lost on penalties to Cheltenham in the 2nd Round of the EFL Trophy.

Looking back in the archives, the two teams have met 39 times with Newport leading the head-to-head on 13 wins to 12 following August’s defeat in South Wales with 14 draws. Newport’s biggest win occurred in the very first meeting between the teams in October 1962 where they won 5-1 with Crewe’s biggest win was a 4-0 victory in April 1976. Last season’s games saw a 1-1 draw at the Alexandra Stadium, also in the second game of the season, whilst the Alex won in March in the return fixture.

I asked Newport supporter Taff from the Amber Army supporters group for their thoughts going into the game as well as their season predictions.

How do feel that your season has gone since we last played?

Very well up until Christmas but wouldn’t change a thing up until last Sunday.

What do you think the team will be for tomorrow’s game?

Day, Forbes, Butler, Demetriou, Franks, Bennett, Dolan, Willmott, Semenyo, Matt, Amond

Is Sheehan the danger man for this game or is there someone else that we should look out for?

Sheehan has been out of favour recently. Semenyo will be the one to watch for sure.

Any changes in where you will finish (previously said that you would finish in mid-table) or to who you think will be promoted and relegated?

I think we could finish top 10. Possibly pinch a play-off place if we can find some form again. Lincoln, MK Dons, Bury and Mansfield to go up. Macclesfield and Morecambe to go down.
