Perry Ng`s second goal of the season 5 minutes from time gave Crewe Alexandra their first win away from home since August as they overcame Morecambe at the Globe Arena last night.

Crewe manager David Artell made 2 changes from Saturday`s late defeat at Forest Green Rovers with defenders Sam Stubbs and Zoumana Bakayago coming into the team replacing Conor Grant and Callum Ainley, who both dropped to the substitutes bench where they were joined by Charlie Kirk, Oliver Finney, Josh Lundstram, Lewis Reilly and goalkeeper Ben Garratt.

The opening chance of the game came in the 3rd minute with Morecambe skipper Alex Kenyon`s cross was headed wide by the unmarked Garry Thompson who should have at least hit the target. Their next opportunity fell to former Alex striker Vadaine Oliver whose effort from the edge of the area was wayward.

Their best chance of the opening period came on the half-hour as a deflected Kevin Ellison effort hit the crossbar whilst the first Alex chance came minutes later as captain Chris Dagnall`s effort rolled wide of the post under pressure from goalkeeper Barry Roche. Ellison hit the woodwork again 5 minutes from the break after he cut in from the wing, beating Eddie Nolan and hitting the far post with his effort.

Into the second period where the hosts continued to create more chances with Adam McGurk`s shot saved by Dave Richards at the second attempt. Oliver`s next opportunity came mid-way through the half with his header going wide from Patrick Brough`s left-wing cross. After a double-change which saw Ainley and Reilly (making his league debut) replace Cooper and Bowery, the former set-up Chris Porter who missed a sitter.

Central defender Steve Old almost gave the hosts the lead in the 84th minute but Richards made the save before Crewe scored the match-deciding goal a minute later. After Ainley had received the ball following a throw-in on the left, his pass found Ng whose shot from 30-yards found the bottom corner of Roche`s goal before the Morecambe keeper denied Reilly adding his third goal of the season.
