Tomorrow afternoon sees Crewe Alexandra host Notts County at the Alexandra Stadium with the visitors’ playing squad containing former Alex defender Rod McDonald and loanee Scott Robertson.
This Season:
This season sees the Magpies sitting in 3rd place in the league having beaten Grimsby Town, Swindon Town, Accrington Stanley, Bromley, Carlisle United, AFC Wimbledon and Harrogate Town, they have drawn with Tranmere Rovers, Fleetwood Town, Morecambe, Chesterfield, Barrow and Doncaster Rovers while they have lost against Gillingham and Port Vale.
They beat Alfreton Town in the FA Cup 1st Round (to set up a trip to Peterborough United in a fortnight) and lost to Shrewsbury Town on penalties in the 1st Round of the Carabao Cup. In their EFL Trophy group, they beat Burton Albion and Leicester City’s Under-21s either side of a defeat against Northampton Town but finished in 3rd place.
Transfers:
They have signed goalkeeper Alex Bass, defenders McDonald, Jacob Badeau, Matthew Platt, Robbie Cundy and Lucas Ness, midfielders Curtis Edwards, Nick Tsaroulla, Kellan Gordn, Jack Hinchy and Conor Grant while forward Josh Martin completes their permanent signings. Midfielder George Abbott and forward Jevani Brown have both joined on season-long loans.
Leaving the club this summer were goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks, defender Lucien Mahovo and forwards Macaulay Langstaff and Aaron Nemane have all left the club for undisclosed fees to Gateshead, Norwich City, Millwall and MK Dons respectively while Tobi Adebayo-Rowling, Geraldo Bajrami, Aden Baldwin, Connell Rawlinson, Richard Brindley, John Bostock, Luther Munakandafa, Jim O’Brien and Will Randall left when their deals expired. A number of players have left the club on loan deals.
