Match Preview – MK Dons (H)

|

In this column we look forward to Saturday’s home game with MK Dons where we will look to get back to winning ways against a team that should be in the promotion picture at the end of the season.

Looking back in the archives, the two teams have met 9 times with MK Dons leading the head-to-head with 4 wins to 3 with 2 draws. MK Dons’ biggest win occurred in the last meeting between the teams in January 2015 where they won 5-0 with Crewe’s biggest win was a 2-0 victory in January 2014. The last 2 games saw the Dons win both by 5 goals, the August 2014 meeting ending 6-1 including a Dele Alli hat-trick as well as the previously mentioned 5-0 in the following January.

Who are the officials for the game?

The officials for this game see Robert Lewis as the man in the middle where he is assisted by Christopher Ward and Mark Cunliffe with Matthew Smith being the fourth official. Here are the Crewe games that have been refereed by Lewis in the previous 5 years:

  • Crewe Alexandra 1-1 Swindon Town (1st March 2014) – Oliver
  • Crewe Alexandra 1-1 Carlisle United (26th December 2016) – Cooper
  • Crewe Alexandra 0-0 Yeovil Town (10th February 2018)

I asked MK Dons supporter Jonathan Harries for his thoughts going into the game.

What do you think of MK Dons’ transfer activity over the summer?

Our transfer activity on the whole has been successful defensively solid with Moore-Taylor and Walsh. Depth to squad which we’ve not had in a while. Up top still light although players coming back from injury.

What do you think the team will be for Saturday’s game?

I think team will be similar to last Saturday:
Nichols
Williams Walsh Moore-Taylor and Lewington
Brittain Houghton Gilbey
Agard Asingoyi Watson

Who would you say is the one player that we should look for in the Dons’ team?

Would be Gilbey considering wasn’t meant to return until Dec it’s a blessing.

After relegation from League 1 last season, how do you think MK Dons will do this season?

Play offs minimum requirement

Who do you think will be promoted and relegated at the end of the season?

Lincoln Mk Dons Mansfield notts county to go up
Yeovil Macclesfield to go down
